| Census Bureau American
Community Survey |
|
The American Community Survey (ACS) is
collected annually across the nation, and is responsible for
capturing and measuring the changing social and economic
characteristics of the U.S, unlike the decennial census
snapshot, which is for congressional apportionment and
legislative redistricting and is a complete count.
The American Community Survey collects over 2 million
samples a year. In
order to produce reliable numbers the ACS combines data across
multiple years, and as of 2010 the first 5-year (2005 – 2009)
estimates are available.
The following maps and summaries are from this release.
